Review and outlook: insights from Fruit Logistica and a look ahead to Internorga and PLMA 2026

The California Walnut Commission looks back on a successful Fruit Logistica 2026 in Berlin. The trade show offered numerous opportunities for exchange with retailers, product developers, importers, and processors. Discussions focused in particular on new applications and market opportunities for California walnuts.

A key highlight this year was our showcase of flavored walnut concepts, which served as inspiration for a wide range of product ideas. Many visitors were surprised by the breadth of flavors that flavored walnuts can offer – a segment that is already seeing strong growth in international markets, while still offering significant potential in Germany.

The flavors presented included:

  • Honey mustard
  • Maple syrup
  • Miso
  • Spicy Cocktail

These variations clearly demonstrated how versatile walnuts can be across different snack and product concepts – from sweet and mild to savory and spicy. The consistently positive feedback underscored the strong demand within the industry for inspiration and innovative, modern product approaches.

Looking ahead: Internorga and PLMA 2026 – exchange on trends and product ideas

The California Walnut Commission will also be present at Internorga in Hamburg and at PLMA “World of Private Label” 2026 in Amsterdam. We look forward to continuing conversations with foodservice professionals, retail, industry, and product development partners, discussing trends, and providing new impulses around the use of California walnuts.
